AMGC SME Industrial Decarbonisation Fund

If you use gas or another fossil fuel for surface treatment, process steam or metals processing, this fund can cover up to half the cost of switching to electric. The Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) runs it.

What it can cover

AMGC puts in up to half the eligible cost, between $200,000 and $500,000 (less is considered case by case), and you match it at least dollar for dollar in cash. Eligible projects are $400,000 to $1 million.

Examples include electric curing instead of gas-fired ovens, electric boilers or heat pumps instead of gas boilers, and electric furnaces or kilns. Power supply upgrades and staff training can count too.

Applications are open until 31 December 2027 or until the $10 million runs out, first come, first served. Projects must finish before 31 March 2028.

Who can apply

  • You're a manufacturer with up to 200 employees.
  • You're incorporated in Australia, with an ACN and an ABN.
  • You're registered for GST and not tax-exempt.
  • You can put in at least half the eligible cost in cash, confirmed by an accountant’s declaration.
  • The project can show a measurable cut in emissions and a path to commercial viability.

Who it isn't for

  • Individuals, partnerships and government bodies. A trust can only apply through an incorporated trustee.
  • Projects that mainly install solar panels, wind turbines or batteries, and carbon capture projects.
  • Stand-alone software.
  • Using another government grant to fund your share.
  • Costs incurred before AMGC confirms Board approval.

If approved, you pay AMGC a 3% commencement fee and a 3% management fee on your contribution, and agree to a public case study. AMGC pays in arrears.
